Great food, all homemade, very down to Earth staff.

Really good for a roadside cafe, the service was fantastic too! Highly recommend stopping here!

Good old fashioned cafe with great food

Can't comment on the food but the service sucks. I came in around 10pm only 1 other person eating , waited 10 minutes then 3 other tables showed up and got service , I never did so I left without eating there.

Slower than F@%#KNot that busy, maybe 5 customers in there, waited close to 10 minutes before the older server finally shows up with a menu. Ordered, food came out pretty quickly and wasn't bad. Damn near done before either server came by to check on me. Props to the cook for knowing what medium rare is supposed to look like.

Thank you for opening and not being weird. Our first sit at a table meal in 8 week's. Food is good. Service is great.

Food is very greasy. They cook everything from chicken to steak on the same grill as well as the eggs the same place as the corned beef etc. If you have an allergy do NOT eat there as they will not protect u from the allergen. Service is usually terrible. Most servers are related to the manager so bad complaint cards will not get submit in to the file. If its cooked in a grease fryer. they cook fish, shrimp, fries and all in the same fryer. I do not reccomend this restaurant. Wait till this time Next year and there will be a LOVES at the Shelby exit which will be much better than this place.

I don't get the bad reviews. Good service. Great food. Fairly decent prices.

I was hoping for fries with my club sandwich that were't like McDonald's fried I guess.

First of this guy needs to learn the difference between bologna and ham... Ham has a bone in it bologna does not....The food and service was Awesome!!!!!I had the same thing he ordered its definitely ham....

We have stopped every time we pass through Avoca Iowa, and have never been dissapointed. Their breakfast is always good, and the only bad things are that it's in a truck stop, so its as clean as you'd expect for a truck stop, and the pie is just average. But the breakfast is great, and the staff is always nice.

This place isn't open 24 hours as advertised.

Awesome burger and pie

Tonight's special is chicken alfredo and garlic bread. They just opened up a can of chunky chicken and a jar of alfredo. No seasonings, no broccoli, no side dish, no salad. Luke warm.

Absolutely hands down the best comfort food I have ever had anywhere in the United States and Europe. A must try. Amazing prices with fresh homemade ingredients. I'm in love!!

Small diner inside of the Flying J truckstop. Good food and friendly staff with fair prices.

Me and my husband went and ate dinner. He had the pot roast and I had the hamburger steak. His pot roast was okay but my hamburger steak was nothing more than a hamburger patty with a few onions on top. We also had side salads which consisted of lettuce and two tomatoes. My husband wanted cucumbers etc so being that they have a salad bar he asked if he could get some toppings from there. The employees told him he could. We walked over and there was knats all over. Maybe hundreds of them. Apparently the toppings had not been changed out all day. We got disgusted and went to sit back down. When we sat back down we had to fight knats from attacking our food. This place is def not somewhere we would ever eat again.

My salad consisted of lettuce and one tomatoe slice. That's it. My gravy on the potatoes was cold. My raspberry ice tea was doable at best. The waitress never came to refill our drinks until we were ready to leave. Not very impressive. . Back 1 year later. Seriously turn up the heat on your food. Should call the health department

Just be honest about your eggs. If someone asks if they're real you know darn well they want to know if you cracked a shell or open the box.

They have awesome food, if you ever find yourself here definitely worth it

Zero stars if I could. Waitress brought me the OJ & coffee, and I told her I'd be a couple minutes. OJ was terrible, no cream for coffee, then she didn't come back for nearly 30 minutes, so I never got any. I had put on my coat to walk out when she finally came back, and she seemed offended that I wanted the check instead of ordering. Well, what did you expect? Should have just walked. Never again.

In and out, good service and staff. Only reason it's a four was because my Cohntry fried steak was alittle bit too greasy, other then that it was good. Ordered country fried steak with cole sole and mashed potatoes cant complain about any thing else. Also got the Banana Cream Pie and it was good!!!👍🏾

Spent 30 min before leaving after not being waited on.

Tables were dirty. Food was ok. They were busy and the buss staff was not washing the tables. Wont eat here again.

Ordered a mashup of two burgers (Chili Cheese and the Mexican) and it turned out phenomenal! Nothing to complain about. Waitress was outgoing and knowledgeable in regards to the menu and was suggestive if you weren't quite sure what to order. The cook on duty definitely knows how to cook a burger to order; spot on medium rare. Worth the stop, that's for sure!

I ordered a beef steak. They just fried a slice of bologna and want 10$ for this. This place is trash. Just keep going. Don’t stop here 😆

A few years ago this place had an amazing short order cook. The guy worked here and at a casino in council bluffs as a cook as well. Since he left the American Pie Cafe, the food has been progressively getting worse. Today, 6/5/18, my wife's food has been reordered twice and has been partially frozen. The waitress has only checked on us twice in the last 40 minutes. This place has gone down hill more every time we have come here. I'm about done eating here. That's just my opinion. Best wishes to those who eat here.

I had liver and onions with a baked potato the lever and the onions were a little bit over cook but not bad... Baked potato had a bad spine and I also added the salad bar pretty nice salad bar good service

Extremely fast and extremely good food!! This place made the whole pilot fiasco worth while!! Thank you American Pie!!!

Food was okay, the tossed salad was somewhat old and the beefsteak look like it was a hamburger. But we got it with onions and gravy which was okay. But I wasn't impressed with this placed. So if it is late, then it's a okay place to eat.

Over price for quantity, ordered chicken fried steak, use to be about 3lbs of round steak, this was processed meat patty in breading that may weigh half lb with gravy and never got my roll that comes with it.

Salad bar is about the most edible thing you find here. Hot beef sandwich was cold soggy unseasoned mush...best to skip this stop

Staff was slow however nice and food was greasy. The pie wasn’t the best.

Stop by for my break! Differently hit the stop! Grilled cheese and tomato soup! On a cold winter day! Couldnt ask for anything better!

Had dinner while staying at the truck stop. One of the worst patty melts I have ever had. Very thin piece of cheese and hardly any sautéed onions. Fries weee average at best. Not worth the $8.99. Made it worse that I had to listen to the staff drama how they were going to fire a girl for not doing her job well.

First time here and i will not be back, cook doesn’t wear a hair net. When i got my food found two long pieces of hair cooked in the cheese!

Delicious burger and fries for a great price. Our server was attentive, and it was nice to see her chatting with her regular customers. Nothing fancy, just good food, friendly staff, fair prices and fantastic pie!

People are saying this place isn’t good.... well, we ate there last night, even after reviewing the reviews, we went there anyway… And it was absolutely delicious… I got a bacon cheeseburger with fries and it was amazing... was made fresh to order....And my mom got a cheeseburger with a loaded baked potato… And hers was amazing too... so, don’t always listen to people..!! Plus the place was packed with people...
